YASSI – explainer video case study

YASSI is a provider of automated solutions to companies in the vehicle industry. They offer web and mobile applications alongside a plug-and-play API that integrates with state agency vehicle databases. Since YASSI introduced its products, the company has become a trusted provider of accessing vehicle and driver data with ease. The company’s motto stands for itself: “The National Platform of Record for Real-Time Vehicle Data”. YASSI is situated in Santa Rosa, California, and has 50 employees.

YASSI contacted Blue Carrot with a request to create a 60-second UI animation video highlighting their core feature — batch processing capabilities on their web platform. The goal is to demonstrate how their API makes accessing vehicle and driver data quicker and easier, which in turn helps their clients work effortlessly with databases.

Thanks to clear communication and a detailed brief provided by YASSI, the project went smoothly for us, and we faced no significant challenges.

Drawing on our practical knowledge of UI animation, we developed a video concept that highlighted YASSI’s batch-processing feature. The animation focused on conveying the ease of integrating their API with existing systems. Overall, we relied constantly on the client’s brief to communicate the key benefits of YASSI’s solution.

• Script: We developed the script fully in collaboration with YASSI, making sure the visual narrative, voiceover text, and key messages were clear and to the point.
• Storyboard: During this phase, our team defined the composition, visuals, and style frames.
• Illustrations: Final illustrations were created based on the approved storyboard and were relevant to YASSI’s branding and visual expectations.
• Animation: In this phase, we brought all the elements together. Music and sound effects were added once the animation was approved. 
• Tools: We used the Boords platform to review the storyboard with YASSI and the Frame.io tool for animation feedback. These tools helped us to establish and maintain fruitful collaboration with the client.

YASSI still needs to provide specific business impact data, but they have contacted us for additional video projects. Thus demonstrating their satisfaction with the UI animation video we have crafted for them.
