What is VILT, and how is it different from traditional ILT?

VILT is about delivering live, interactive sessions over web platforms. The difference between VILT and traditional ILT is mainly in the delivery methods and the technology used. Both offer expert-led instruction, but VILT takes place remotely via video conferencing. Traditional ILT requires a physical presence in the classroom.

Can you convert our existing in-person training into VILT?

Yes, turning ILT into VILT is right up our alley. However, it’s not about copying it word for word. As a VILT development company, we review what you have and identify what fits in a virtual context. We adapt hands-on activities for online use, often breaking large sections into smaller parts and adding technology where needed. We also create guides for both facilitators and students. Our goal is to keep the best parts of your original content, update all outdated elements, and move the experience online.

What is the difference between VILT and asynchronous e-learning?

A VILT program is typically built around a live instructor-led approach. It’s often scheduled at specific times and focuses on interaction with the instructor. In an online setting, learners can ask questions, get immediate feedback, and collaborate. On the other hand, asynchronous e-learning lets learners go at their own pace. It’s content-rich, flexible, and easy to scale, by its nature of ease of localizing or expanding modules as needed.

Many organizations find that a blended approach works best, combining live virtual sessions with self-paced learning so learners benefit from both personal interaction and flexible, independent study.

How long does it take to design a VILT program?

It can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, depending on:
