About the client

Brainedge is a technology startup that aims to take leadership in the online education industry, challenging giants like Coursera and Udacity. Their primary goal was to tackle two major issues: the high drop-off rates of students in online courses and the limited accessibility of content for non-English-speaking audiences.

Brainedge tackled these challenges by introducing a learn-to-earn system, rewarding students with crypto coins for course progress and performance. They also used AI to make content localization faster, expanding access to global learners.

Goal

To validate their hypothesis, Brainedge needed an initial portfolio of courses to be created from scratch and then localized into two additional languages to launch the platform within a reasonable timeframe.

Brainedge was looking to create courses to cover fourteen areas of expertise, from communication and marketing courses to algorithmic trading and blockchain, consisting of: 

  • 94 courses;
  • 381 individual lessons, all of which would be translated and localized into three languages (Spanish, French, and English).

Challenges

The challenge was how to create a portfolio from scratch fast, that was cost-effective but yet of high quality and make it happen within 4 months.

What we did

Curriculum map. To tackle the challenges, we used two strategies. First, we reused ready-made courses by creating a curriculum map based on user needs. We researched available materials, picked the best ones, and adjusted them to fit Brainedge’s guidelines. This approach helped us create 70% of the course catalog.

ChatGPT script dev. For the remaining 30% of the curriculum, we used ChatGPT to quickly develop drafts. Our instructional designers created video structures, added content, and included exercises. These drafts were then reviewed by subject matter experts for accuracy.

Templated graphics. We added custom graphics to the videos, ensuring brand consistency. To speed up production and reduce costs, we created templated graphic assets. These templates allowed for quick editing of the recorded videos and the seamless addition of necessary illustrative elements on top.

Localization. For localization, we used Heygen AI to quickly translate the videos into Spanish and French. The platform reproduced the speaker's voice and adapted the lip-syncing to match the new languages, making the process seamless and efficient.

Thumbnails. Another technique that helped reduce production time and costs was using the AI platform MidJourney, which generated graphics for the course thumbnails in the LMS.

LMS. We selected an LMS that supported dynamic xAPI packages, allowing course updates without disrupting learning. This also enabled the export of SCORM/xAPI packages, giving the client the ability to sell courses while ensuring seamless updates across third-party platforms.

Results

We delivered all 94 courses on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. We completed the project in just four months by reusing content, using AI tools, and creating templated assets. This helped Brainedge launch its e-learning platform quickly and reach a global audience with localized content.
