About the client

Neocom is the discovery platform that helps companies support customers throughout their purchasing journey. With over 5,000,000 users, Neocom equipped consumers with guided product advisors across 250 categories. Thanks to their platform, businesses have a tool for personalized customer journeys.

Goal

Neocom contacted Blue Carrot during the preparation for an upcoming roadshow. The goal was to create an animated video highlighting new AI features that had not yet been implemented at the time and were still under development. The company wanted to show future possibilities and the value of the innovations to their audience. One specific requirement was to create the video fully without any voice-over.

Challenges

The biggest challenge was the timeline: We had only 22 calendar days to complete the entire project. To meet the deadline, our team even worked weekends, committing fully to the project’s goal. Another challenge was to highlight complex AI features and their benefits without verbal accompaniment. In other words, all communication had to be done through clear and easy-to-get visuals.

What We Did

Thanks to our practical knowledge, we decided to skip the script-writing phase to save time and start right away from storyboard creation. We used the standard, tried-and-true approach—fully relying on the client’s brief.

Neocom also provided us with the graphics they had designed for their presentations, and we created an intuitive visual narrative that demonstrated the future potential of their AI technology.

To make sure we were on the same page with their vision, we double-checked that every single frame conveyed their key messages. The client guided the entire process, and overall, they were actively involved throughout the video creation process.
Project Breakdown
  • Storyboard. We developed the framing and composition of shots. Then, we refined the visuals to boost clarity and their impact on the viewers.
  • Illustrations. We created the final visuals, maintaining consistency with the style preferences communicated by Neocom.
  • Animation. We designed all the movements and transitions between scenes as a part of the motion-design stage.
  • Tools. We used the Boords platform for storyboards and illustrations, as well as a communication instrument: Neocom’s representatives could review and provide feedback on each frame. We also worked with the Frame.io tool: through it, clients could leave feedback on every second of the video.
Results

Although we haven’t received detailed feedback on the specific business outcomes, we believe Neocom was satisfied with the final product. They have already communicated the details of a new project to us. The roadshow video demonstrated the potential of their AI features, and its impact on their presentation was undeniable.
