MayQR — 2D explainer video case study

MayQR (“QR Code Generator.” MayQR, 2024) offers clients a free and handy tool to generate and customize their QR codes to stand out from the crowd. With its help, users can create a code featuring brand colors, decorate it with images, or work on seasonal or thematic codes for any of their creative needs.

The main goal was to promote the client’s tool for customized QR code generation.

• Effectively delivering their free solution to both English- and Spanish-speaking audiences.
• Developing two distinct versions of the explainer to ensure versatility across multiple campaign platforms.

The Blue Carrot team opted for 2D graphics and a visual style that followed MayQR’s branding for a light and engaging video. Real interface integration helped us present the tool’s key advantages, and a character representing its target audience was used to spark interest and guide viewers through the video story.

For MayQR, Blue Carrot took over all tasks concerning explainer video production. The full-cycle creative process took about nine work weeks and included style framing, storyboarding, sketching, motion design, sound design, and many other aspects.

The explainer’s main and short English versions were fully localized for Spanish-speaking audiences to help MayQR engage with local audiences. The video itself was multipurpose, too. Our client can use it at the earlier sales funnel stages to evoke the interest of potential customers on social media or blogs; in the mid-funnel marketing campaigns, the same video is suitable for lead nurturing and promoting advanced features of the QR generator, like zero-party data gathering and collecting analytics.
